The High Cost of Spiritual Immaturity

Heb. 12:7-17

The spiritually immature Christian expects life to go smoothly without any hiccups since he is now a child of God. He gets discouraged whenever a challenge arises. He complains that God and other Christians do not really care about him, and readily accepts a compromise which appears as a way out of the challenge. He does not take time to count the cost of what he stands to lose by making compromise. Esau lost his birthright because he was locked in this mind set. At the end of it all, he came to realise his loss; his weeping could not buy back his loss. Focusing on the redemption story keeps reminding us that salvation did not come cheaply. Jesus endured the cross, despised the shame of being treated as a criminal. When next you tend to ask “where is God when this is happening to me?” Remember that He is still where He was when they nailed His Son to the cross.

Point of Emphasis:        Redemption story should make me look unto Jesus, the author and finisher of my faith.

Prayer Point:            I receive strength to withstand every pressure as Jesus did to bring me salvation.

LE COUT ELEVE DE LA MATURITE SPRIRITUELLE

HEB. 12 :7-17    

Le chrétien spirituellement immature espère que la vie se passe bien sans encombre étant donné qu’il est maintenant fils de Dieu. Il se décourage chaque fois qu’une difficulté considérable apparaît. Il se plaint de ce que Dieu et les autres ne prennent pas réellement soin de lui et accepte volontiers un compromis qui paraît comme une issue à la difficulté. Il ne prend pas le temps d’évaluer le coût de ce qu’il risque de perdre en faisant le compromis. Ésaü perdit son droit d’aînesse parce qu’il était écroué dans sa mentalité. En fin de compte, il arriva à se rendre compte de sa perte, ses pleurs ne pouvaient pas racheter ce qu’il avait perdu. Se concentrer sur l’histoire de la rédemption continue à nous rappeler que le salut n’est pas arrivé à bon compte. Jésus endura la croix, méprisa la honte d’être traité de criminel. La prochaine fois que tu tends à demander « où est Dieu quand tout cela m’arrive ? », souviens-toi qu’il est toujours là où il était quand on crucifiait son fils sur la croix.                       

Point essentiel : L’histoire de la rédemption doit me faire regarder vers Jésus, le chef et le consommateur de ma foi.

Axe de prière : Je reçois la force de résister face à toute pression comme Jésus l’a fait pour m’apporter le salut.
