Don’t Commercialise Your Gift

2 Kgs. 5:15-27

When God used a man of God to solve a problem in the lives of believers, it is not a sin and it is not wrong for them to appreciate the man of God. The Bible even approves it (Gal. 6:6). However, when a man of God that has been endowed with spiritual gifts starts asking people to pay consultation fee before they could see him, or when he starts to tell those he wants to pray for to make a pledge of what they will give to him, (not even to God). After God has answered their prayers, this has become commercialisation of God’s gifts. Elisha did not receive appreciation gift from Naaman, but Gehazi was not happy with this and ran after Naaman and collected the gifts and also received leprosy alongside. It is clear why Gehazi could not eventually receive the “double portion” of Elisha, that is the line he supposed to follow. Beware of covetousness!

Point of Emphasis:         Use your gift to glorify God with no expectation of human reward.

Prayer Point:                  Lord, always lead me to know the appreciation gift to take and the one to reject.

NE COMMERCIALISE PAS TON DON

2 ROIS 5 :15-27

Quand Dieu se sert d’un homme de Dieu pour résoudre un problème dans la vie des fidèles, ce n’est pas un péché et ce n’est pas non plus injuste pour eux d’apprécier l’homme de Dieu. La Bible approuve même cela. (Ga. 6 :6). Cependant, quand un homme de Dieu doté de dons spirituels commence à demander aux gens de payer les frais de consultation avant qu’ils ne puissent le voir ou quand il se met à dire à ceux qui font des requêtes de prières  de faire un vœu au sujet de ce qu’ils lui donneraient, (même pas à Dieu) après que Dieu ait exaucé leurs prières, cela devient une commercialisation des dons de Dieu. Elisée n’a reçu de dons d’appréciation de Naman, mais Guéhazi n’était pas content de cela et courut après Naman dont il  reçut non seulement des dons mais aussi de la lèpre. C’est clair la raison pour laquelle Guéhazi finit par ne pas recevoir la ‘double portion’ d’Elisée. C’était là la ligne qu’il était supposée suivre.  Prends garde à la convoitise!

Point essentiel : Utilise ton don pour glorifier Dieu sans espérer aucune récompense humaine.

Axe de prière : Seigneur, conduis-moi à distinguer le don d’appréciation à recevoir de celui qui est à rejeter.
