You Can Avoid Being Disciplined

1 Cor. 9:24-27

A child who hates to be beaten and who does not want to be scolded will have to determine to be obedient and always do those things that are pleasing to his or her parents. Likewise, a Christian who wants to avoid being disciplined will have to work on himself or herself. He needs to make up his or her mind never to do anything contrary to the will and commandments of God. Like Paul, he or she must discipline the body, emotion, appetite, likes and dislikes and ensure that he or she tames them to conform with the will of God. He or she must constantly be examining himself or herself whether he or she is still in the faith and correct himself or herself if he or she discovers any shortcomings. By this, a Christian will avoid being disciplined in the church.

Point of Emphasis:         Discipline your body and bring it under control (v. 27)

Prayer Point:                  Lord, help me to bring my body and life under the control of the Holy Spirit always.
