DAILY BIBLE READING
1 Cor. 5:1-8
The Corinthian Church appeared as a very vibrant Church where the Holy Spirit was actively at work. But behind the facade of a healthy vibrant Church, there was a rottenness due to hidden sin among the members. We should not equate ceaseless round of religious activities with the move of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit distances Himself from a congregation where hidden sin remains hidden because the members choose to look the other way rather than confronting it and dealing with it. Joshua chose to pray and fast for days, the presence of God would not abide with the congregation as long as Achan’s sin remained hidden and was not dealt with.
Point of Emphasis: The Holy Spirit is holy, and cannot dwell or work within a congregation where there is hidden sin.
Prayer Point: Father, do not let any sin remain hidden in our Church. Expose every sin and assist us to deal with it.
