Prayer – Mark Of Spiritual
Maturity Acts 16:20-28
Paul and Silas were arrested for preaching the gospel and for casting out the spirit of divination from a girl. Both of them were thoroughly beaten and thrown into jail. If they were immature Christians, they would have fallen into self-pity and depression. They would have been asking God why He allowed such a cruel and unfair treatment to befall them. Instead, they rose up at midnight to pray and to sing hymns to God. One of the marks of a mature Christian is his consistent, fervent and purposeful prayer life. Mature Christians keep the fire on their prayer altar always burning. They bring God’s power down in any situation they find themselves. The prayer they offer in the public does not have to be long because they have finished the business of the day on their knees in their private prayer sessions. Elijah’s prayer on Mount Carmel was short, yet it brought fire down because the matter had been settled in private prayer.
Point of Emphasis: Your strength on the prayer altar will dictate your relevance in God’s kingdom.
Prayer Point: Holy Spirit, anoint me for an effective prayer life.

ACTES 16 : 20-28
Paul et Silas furent arrêtés pour avoir prêché l’évangile et pour avoir chassé l’esprit de python d’une fille. Les deux furent battus et jetés en prison. S’ils étaient des chrétiens immatures, ils seraient tombés dans l’apitoiement de soi-même et la dépression. Ils auraient demandé à Dieu pourquoi il a permis qu’un traitement si cruel et injuste leur soit infligé. Ils se levèrent plutôt vers le milieu de la nuit pour prier et chanter des hymnes à Dieu. Une des marques d’un chrétien mûr est sa prière régulière, fervente et constante. Les chrétiens mûrs maintiennent le feu toujours brûlant sur leur autel de prière. Ils font descendre la puissance de Dieu dans n’importe quelle situation ils se retrouvent. La prière qu’ils offrent en public n’a pas besoin d’être longue car ils ont fini avec la situation qui prévaut à genoux dans leurs réunions de prières privées. La prière d’Elie sur le Mont Carmel fut courte encore est-il qu’il fit descendre le feu car l’affaire avait été déjà tranchée en priant en privé.
Point essentiel : Ta force sur l’autel de ta prière dictera ton importance dans le royaume de Dieu.
