Self-Sacrifice In Following God

Lk. 14:25-33

It was self-sacrifice for Moses to choose to be identified with the people of God. He could have chosen to live in luxury as Pharaoh’s son without anyone blaming him. He renounced luxury and cast his lot with suffering slaves. He grew up a young man in the palace of Pharaoh. He would have had strong attraction with Pharaoh’s daughter who raised him up as her son. His love for the God of Abraham was however stronger than his love for his foster mother. Christian are called to have greater love for God than for family members. Love for God also motivates a Christian to make necessary sacrifice to faithfully follow Jesus Christ. It is important to factor in the self-sacrifice in deciding to follow Jesus. There cannot be a crown without the cross.

Point of Emphasis:      Have you counted the cost if your soul should be lost though you gain the whole world for your own.

Prayer Point:               Father, strengthen me not to shrink back when it becomes necessary for me to make sacrifice in following Jesus Christ.

L’ABNEGATION A SUIVRE DIEU

LUC 14 :25 :33

C’était une abnégation pour Moïse de choisir de s’identifier avec le peuple de Dieu. Il aurait pu choisir de vivre dans le luxe en tant que fils de Pharaon sans que personne ne puisse le blâmer. Il renonça au luxe et jeta son dévolu sur les esclaves souffrants. Il grandit comme un jeune homme dans le palais de Pharaon. Il aurait eu un attachement viscéral à la fille de Pharaon qui l’avait élevé pour fils. Son amour pour le Dieu d’Abraham était cependant plus grand que celui qu’il eut pour sa mère adoptive. Les chrétiens sont appelés à avoir un plus grand amour pour Dieu que pour les membres de leur famille. L’amour pour Dieu motive aussi un chrétien à faire le sacrifice nécessaire à suivre fidèlement Jésus-Christ. C’est important de prendre en compte l’abnégation en décidant de suivre Jésus. Ni croix ni couronne.

Point essentiel : As-tu considéré le coût de perdre ton âme quoique tu gagnerais le monde entier à ta faveur?

Axe de prière : Père, je reçois la grâce d’être fidèle à Jésus en menant une vie pieuse quelles que soient les circonstances.
