The Place Of House Fellowships
Acts 2:41-47
The early Church had the opportunity to fellowship in the temple and from house to house. The congregation grew very large after the day of Pentecost. They could fellowship in the temple together but no individual house could contain thousands of believers at the same time. “From house to house” suggests that they broke into smaller groups. It is easy for one to get lost in a large crowd but in a smaller fellowship, one will easily be identified, cared for and be called upon to minister to others. In a large congregation, it is difficult for the ministers to know everybody; it is also difficult to be aware of the need – spiritual, material, financial etc. – of every member. It is easier to identify and cater for these needs in a small group and also to mobilise the person for service. The impact of the small group can be felt in the neighbourhood in which the group is situated – with its multiplicative effect as the number increases.
Point of Emphasis: Small house fellowships can be organised to minister effectively to the needs of the members.
Prayer Point: Father, teach our leaders how to organise the congregation to effectively meet the needs of the members.

LES LIEUX DE COMMUNION

L’église primitive eut l’occasion de communier dans le temple et de maison en maison. La congrégation s’élargit considérablement à la suite du jour de la Pentecôte. Ils pouvaient communier ensemble dans le temple mais aucune maison individuelle ne pouvait contenir en même temps des milliers de croyants. ‘De maison en maison’ suggère qu’ils se divisèrent en petits groupes. C’est facile pour quelqu’un de se perdre dans une foule nombreuse mais dans une communion restreinte, l’on peut être facilement identifié, pris en charge et appelé à servir autrui. Dans une grande congrégation, les ministres le trouvent difficile de connaître tout le monde; il leur est aussi difficile d’être conscients des besoins spirituels, matériels, financiers, etc. de chaque membre. Il est facile d’identifier et de s’occuper de ces besoins dans un petit groupe et de mobiliser la personne pour le service. L’impact du petit groupe peut être senti dans le voisinage où le groupe est situé avec son effet multiplicatif au fur et à mesure que le nombre s’accroît.
Point essentiel : De petites maisons de communion peuvent être établies pour servir efficacement aux besoins des membres.
