For The Church To Survive

 Rev. 2:4-7

There is a natural tendency for a vibrant system to cool off and become colder. The Church at Ephesus started with fervent love for God. But as time went on, they began to relax and cool off. The natural fate for a system that begins to run down is to eventually die off. If a Church is going to stand the test of time, it has to maintain its fervency. So many factors gang up to ensure that the Church does not maintain its level of fervent love for God. The main goal is to make sure the Church does not survive the sustained attack directed at the Church. Very sad of course, history tells us that Ephesus, where that vibrant Church once existed, is predominantly dominated by Muslims now. The lamp has gone out.

Point of Emphasis:     Unless you repent and do the first works, I will come to you and remove your lamp-stand from its place.

Prayer Point:              God, help us to keep the fire of our spiritual zeal burning. Do not remove our lamp-stand from its place.

POUR QUE L’EGLISE SURVIVE

 APO. 2:4-7

Il y a une tendance naturelle pour un système dynamique de se refroidir et de devenir plus froid. L’église d’Ephèse  commença avec un amour fervent pour Dieu. Mais au fur et à mesure que le temps passait, ils (les membres) commencèrent à s’assouplir et à se refroidir. Le destin naturel pour un système qui commence à s’évanouir est de ‘mourir’ éventuellement. Si une église veut résister au passage du temps, elle doit maintenir sa ferveur. Plusieurs facteurs se réunissent pour s’assurer que l’église ne maintienne pas son niveau de ferveur d’amour pour Dieu. Le but principal est de s’assurer que l’église ne survive pas à l’attaque prolongée qui la vise. Bien sûr et très triste, l’histoire nous raconte qu’Ephèse où cette église dynamique a une fois existé, est maintenant majoritairement dominée par les musulmans. La lampe s’est éteinte.

Point essentiel : A moins que tu ne te repentes et que tu ne pratiques tes premières œuvres, je viendrai à toi, et j’ôterai ton chandelier de sa place.

Axe de prière : Dieu, aide-nous à faire brûler davantage notre zèle spirituel. N’ôte pas notre chandelier de sa place.
