No Sinner Will Go Unpunished

1 Kgs. 21:17-27

Ahab was a wicked king, whose activities were instigated by his wife, Jezebel. She was particularly noted for having made the worship of the god Baal popular in Israel. Jezebel hated God so much that she killed many prophets of God, while supporting the prophets of Baal, who ate at her table. She even threatened to kill Elijah. The prophet had to flee for his life. She hatched the plot that led to the killing of Naboth when the latter refused to give his vineyard to the king. Ahab gave in so much to the wickedness of Jezebel to the extent that the Bible says there was none that sold himself to work wickedness in the sight of the Lord like him (verse 25). Because the Lord God is just and will never allow any sinner go unpunished, He pronounced terrible judgment upon Ahab and Jezebel. God has not, and will not change His position on that. Every sinner must be judged and punished for his or her sins sooner or later. Penalty for sin can be very terrible as in the case of Ahab, whose punishment extended even to his posterity (verse 21). Therefore keep away from sin; it destroys and it kills.

Point of Emphasis:             It is a terrible thing to fall into the hands of the Almighty.

Prayer Point:                                      Lord, I surrender to You today, have mercy upon me.

AUCUN PECHEUR NE RESTERA IMPUNI

1 ROIS 21 :17-27

Achab était un roi méchant dont les activités étaient attisées par Jézabel, sa femme. Elle s’était faite particulièrement remarquée en Israël  pour avoir rendu populaire l’adoration du dieu Baal. Jézabel abhorrait Dieu au point qu’elle exécuta beaucoup de prophètes de Dieu, pendant qu’elle supportait les prophètes de Baal, qui mangèrent à sa table. Elle avait même menacé de tuer Eli. Le prophète a dû se sauver pour sa vie. Elle trama le complot qui entraîna  la mort de Naboth quand ce dernier avait refusé de céder sa vigne au roi. Achab céda tant à la méchanceté de Jézabel au point que la Bible dit qu’ : « Il n’y a eu personne qui se soit vendu comme Achab pour faire ce qui est mal aux yeux de l’Éternel, et Jézabel, sa femme, l’y excitait » (verset 25). Etant donné que l’Eternel Dieu est juste et ne permettra jamais qu’aucun pécheur reste impuni, il prononça un jugement terrible contre Achab et Jézabel. Dieu n’a pas changé et ne changera pas sa position sur cela. Tout pécheur doit être jugé et puni pour ses péchés, tôt ou tard. La peine du péché pourrait être si terrible telle dans le cas d’Achab dont la punition s’était étendue même jusqu’à ses rejetons. (Verset 21). Eloigne-toi donc du péché; il tue et détruit.

Point essentiel : C’est une chose terrible que de tomber entre les mains du Tout-puissant.
