The Kingdom Of God In You
Lk. 17:20-23
Jesus Christ gave answer to the question asked by the Pharisee who asked for when the kingdom of God would come. He answered them that the kingdom can’t be detected by visible signs where it can be said here or there but starts within you. This means having experienced new birth you are called a child of God, the kingdom of God is established in you. This makes you feel the joy of salvation (Holy Spirit) on daily basis. The kingdom of God first reigns within us before we can be part of the larger kingdom.
Point of Emphasis: God’s kingdom starts within you and that makes you part of the larger kingdom.
Prayer Point: Let your kingdom reign in me, Oh Lord.
BACKGROUND
There may be some people who do not have the knowledge of what the kingdom of God is all about. There are some who merely talk about the kingdom but do not understand what it entails. Some view that the kingdom is something that is going to happen at an uncertain time in the future. Such ignorance must not be allowed to continue among us. In this lesson, we will have indepth knowledge about the kingdom.
NOTES ON THE TEXT
PART 1: WHAT IS THE KINGDOM OF GOD? (DAN. 4:3; PS. 103:19; 83:18; 9:16)
The kingdom of God is defined as the rule and authority of God in the heart of a man. It is viewed as everlasting and universal, the rule of the sovereign God over all creatures and things.
Earthly kingdoms are inaugurated, carried and brought to an end by human force. They are also governed by human authority and power are executed through them, but the kingdom of God is ushered in and maintained by the omnipotent God. The kingdom of God oversees and rules over all earthly kingdoms because they will fade off in the cause of time. The kingdom of God is established by the King of the universe who takes charge over all and is guided by the Holy Spirit.
We need to know and affirm the fact that the kingdom of God belongs to the Almighty God who cannot be seen, unsit, dethrone, and His authority cannot be hijacked, He gives power to whoever he pleases. He rules and reigns in heaven and earth and moreso this kingdom is everlasting, it has no end. He is the Omnipotent, Omniscient and Omnipresent God.
PART 2: THE SPIRITUALITY OF THE KINGDOM (LK. 17:20-21)
The kingdom of God does not come with physical observation of rituals or in a dramatic way such that one can wish to see. The kingdom of God cannot be seen with our physical eyes but comes in a silent and quiet way. The kingdom of an earthly monarch is only in the domain where he or she lives but God rules in the heart and lives in the heart of his own people all over the world.
The Pharisees were anxious (either out of sincerity or pretence) to know when the kingdom of God would appear. So they came to Jesus and asked when the kingdom of God would come. They were obviously looking for the physical appearance of the kingdom. But Jesus corrected this error and told them that the kingdom of God would not come by mere observation but He said “the kingdom of God is within you”.
Man’s heart feels joy in the Holy Ghost as soon as the heart turns to God (point of salvation) because he is justified by the name of the Lord and the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 6:11). Acceptance of the gospel of salvation changes heart from ordinary to spiritual and immediately the kingdom of God is established. (Mk. 1:15). It changes immoral, sinful and rebellious sinner to a saint even to a servant of God.
At the point of repentance, you are born of the spirit and the kingdom is within you i.e. starts reigning in your heart. This cannot be seen physically but peace and joy will be felt from within: this is the beginning of God’s kingdom. Christ is the embodiment of the kingdom of God, he is setting the kingdom among us to be to reigning in those he is touching. We should always present our bodies a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God… (Rom. 12:1) as soon as the kingdom reigns in us.
PART 3: THE PHYSICAL KINGDOM (DAN. 7:13,14; LK. 17:22)
Having got the understanding of the spirituality of the kingdom of God (Internal), it is also expedient to know the external (physical) of the kingdom of God. Prophet Daniel saw this quite long ago in the vision before the Lord Jesus came to the world (Dan. 7:13-14) that the son of man is coming with the clouds of heaven. Unto Him given dominion and glory and a kingdom. Nations shall serve him and His kingdom shall not be destroyed. Jesus, while on earth, affirmed this in Matthew 25:31-32 to corroborate the passage of Prophet Daniel.
Jesus Christ is referred to as the Son of man who is coming someday to set up the kingdom of God on earth (physical kingdom). It is an everlasting kingdom which cannot be overthrown or taken away by force. The spiritual kingdom will lead us to be part of the physical kingdom. Those that are qualified, sinless and found blameless will have access to reigning with Christ on earth. We need to be watchful and earnestly prepare for this kingdom because those who fail to prepare will prepare to fail.
CONCLUSION
The internal and external kingdom is real. As a member of the kingdom, we have divine agenda and purpose. John the Baptist preached and prepared the people for the imminent coming of the Messiah at His first advent. After Jesus, he laid the foundation of the kingdom and commanded His immediate disciples to carry on the task till He returned. With the disciples’ commitment and effort they extended the task for the next generation which is ours. It is now our turn to carry on the word with all seriousness needed to prepare the world for the coming of the kingdom.

LE ROYAUME DE DIEU EN TOI

Jésus-Christ donna la réponse à la question que lui avaient posée les Pharisiens à la question de savoir quand viendra le royaume de Dieu. Il leur répondit que le royaume ne peut être détecté par des signes visibles qu’on peut voir ça et là mais commence en toi. Cela veut dire ayant connu la nouvelle naissance, tu es maintenant appelé enfant de Dieu et que le royaume de Dieu est établi en toi. Cela te fait sentir la joie du salut (attribué par le Saint-Esprit) chaque jour. Le royaume de Dieu règne premièrement en nous avant que nous faisions partie du plus grand royaume.
Point Essentiel : Le royaume de Dieu commence en toi et c’est ainsi que tu fais partie du plus grand royaume.

INTRIGUE DU TEXTE DE REFERENCE
Certaines personnes ne pourraient pas comprendre ce que c’est que le royaume de Dieu. Il y a des gens qui en parlent simplement mais qui ne pigent pas ce que cela implique. D’aucuns pensent que le royaume est quelque chose qui va se produire a un moment incertain dans le futur. On ne doit pas permettre à une telle ignorance de continuer parmi nous. Dans cette leçon, nous aurons une connaissance approfondie du royaume.
LES GRANDES ARTICULATIONS DU TEXTE
I) QU’EST-CE QUE LE ROYAUME DE DIEU ? (Dan 4:3 ; Ps. 103:19 ; 83:18 ; 9 :16).
Le royaume de Dieu est défini comme la domination et l’autorité de Dieu dans le cœur d’un homme. Il est perçu comme étant éternel et universel, la domination du Dieu souverain sur toutes choses et créatures.
Les royaumes terrestres sont inaugurés, emportés et terminés par la force humaine. Ils sont aussi sous la houlette de l’autorité humaine et les pouvoirs sont exécutés à travers eux. Mais le royaume de Dieu est inauguré et maintenu par le Dieu Omnipotent. Le royaume de Dieu supervise et règne sur tous les royaumes terrestres car ils disparaîtront avec le temps. Le royaume de Dieu est établi par le roi de l’univers qui se charge de tout et qui est guidé par le Saint-Esprit.
Nous devons savoir et affirmer le fait que le royaume de Dieu appartient au Dieu Tout-puissant qui est invisible et qui ne peut être détrôné et son autorité ne peut être détournée. Il donne le pouvoir à quiconque il veut. Il domine et règne dans les cieux et sur la terre et en plus son royaume est éternel. Il n’a ni fin. Il est un Dieu Omnipotent, Omniscient et Omniprésent.
II) LA SPIRITUALITE DU ROYAUME LUC 17:20-21
Le royaume de Dieu ne consiste pas en l’observation physique des rites ou de manière dramatique telle que l’on puisse souhaiter le voir. Le royaume de Dieu ne peut être vu physiquement de nos yeux mais vient de façon calme et silencieuse. Le royaume d’un roi terrestre n’est que dans le domaine où il réside mais Dieu règne dans le cœur et vit dans le cœur de son peuple partout dans le monde.
Les Pharisiens étaient inquiets (soit par sincérité ou par prétention) de savoir quand le royaume de Dieu apparaîtra. Ils vinrent à Jésus pour lui demander quand le royaume de Dieu apparaîtra. Ils cherchaient évidemment l’apparence physique du royaume. Mais Jésus corrigea cette erreur en leur faisant savoir que le royaume de Dieu n’arrivera pas par simple observation et il dit: « Le royaume de Dieu est au milieu de vous ».
Le cœur de l’homme sent la joie dans le Saint-Esprit dès que le cœur tourne à Dieu (au moment du salut) parce qu’il est justifié par le nom du Seigneur et du Saint-Esprit. (1Co.6 :11). L’accueil de l’évangile du salut change le cœur de l’ordinaire au spirituel dès que le royaume de Dieu s’y établit. (Marc 1 :15). Il change le pécheur immoral, impénitent et rebelle en un saint voire en un serviteur de Dieu.
Au moment de la repentance, tu es né de l’Esprit et le royaume vient en toi c’est-à-dire qu’il commence à régner dans ton cœur. Cela ne peut pas se voir physiquement mais la paix et la joie se feront ressentir du dedans : C’est là le commencement du royaume de Dieu. Christ est l’incarnation du royaume de Dieu. Il pose le royaume parmi nous pour régner dans ceux qu’il touche. Nous devons toujours présenter notre corps comme un sacrifice vivant, saint et agréable. (Romains 12 :1).
III) LE ROYAUME PHYSIQUE (DAN. 7 :13-14 ; LUC 17:22)
Ayant saisi la compréhension de la spiritualité du royaume de Dieu (caractéristique interne), il est aussi avantageux de connaître la caractéristique externe (physique) du royaume de Dieu. Le prophète Daniel vit cela, il y a tout à fait longtemps dans sa vision avant que le Seigneur Jésus ne vienne dans le monde (Dan. 7:13-14), que le fils de l’homme arrivera sur les nuées des cieux; à qui il est donné la domination, la gloire et le règne. Les nations le serviront et son règne ne sera jamais détruit. Jésus, pendant qu’il était encore ici-bas, affirma cela dans Matthieu 25 :31-32 pour corroborer le passage dans le livre de Daniel.
La référence est faite à Jésus-Christ comme le Fils de l’homme qui arrivera un jour pour mettre en place le royaume de Dieu sur terre (le royaume physique). C’est un royaume éternel qui ne peut être renversé ou pris de force. Le royaume spirituel nous conduira à faire partie du royaume physique. Ceux qui sont qualifiés, qui sont sans péché et trouvés irrépréhensibles auront accès à régner avec Christ ici-bas. Nous avons besoin d’être vigilants et de nous préparer avec instance à ce royaume car ceux qui manquent de se préparer se préparent pour échouer.
Conclusion
Le royaume interne et externe existe. En tant que membre du royaume, nous avons un agenda et un but divin. Jean Baptiste prêcha et prépara le peuple à l’avènement imminent du Messie pendant sa première venue. Après quoi, Jésus posa le fondement du royaume et ordonna à ses disciples immédiats de continuer avec l’œuvre jusqu’à son retour. A travers leurs efforts et leur dévouement, la tâche fut étendue à la génération suivante qui est la nôtre. C’est maintenant à notre tour de poursuivre l’œuvre avec tout le sérieux que cela exige pour préparer le monde à l’avènement du royaume.
