Attaining Maturity Before Marriage

At what age should a man or lady get married? The question becomes relevant these days when girls who are considered babies are getting pregnant – babies having babies. Medically it is agreed that the female body should be mature enough to bear the stress of pregnancy before a lady gets married. There is no consensus what age this should be, but in many cultures, a lady getting married before she is eighteen years of age is considered inappropriate. There are other factors that should be considered besides physical age. Both man and woman should be emotionally mature enough to handle the difficulties marriage entails. Also important is the economic maturity. Funds will be needed to keep the home and take care of the children when they come. A couple cannot depend on their parents for their upkeep. Marriage is therefore not for small boys and girls.

Point of Emphasis: Before considering marriage, be sure you are mature enough to carry the burden it entails.

Prayer Point: Father, make the conditions ripe for our mature singles to get married.
