Discipline In Love
Col. 3:21; Prov. 23:13-14; 13:24
Children will always be children. It is not all the time that you give them instructions that they will conform. They will disobey you and want to see what would happen if they refuse to take heed to your instructions. At such a time, parents must let the children know that, though they are free to decide their actions, but they must also be ready to bear the consequences of the actions, whether positive or negative. Having made them to realise this truth, anytime they go wrong you must apply the necessary punishment which may be denying them to watch their favourable T.V. programme, social outing or even canning if the need be so as to drive home your point that there is consequences for every action. However, all these must be done in love and for the purpose of correction and not to show superiority over the children. Parents should avoid inflicting injuries on their children while trying to correct them.
Point of Emphasis: He who loves his child disciplines him promptly (Prov. 13:24)
Prayer Point: Lord, help me to correct my children in love always.
