Husband To Love The Wife

Eph. 5:25-33

Part of the marriage vows that the husband made during the wedding ceremony is to love the wife. For the greater percentage of men, the romantic feeling last a short time beyond the honeymoon. The man then falls back into his regular routine. Often the feeling and expressions of love fade very fast if the wife does not give the husband the respect he deserves or if she has some odious character. The kind of love, which God commands the Christian husband to have, is so deep that whatever the wife does or fails to do should not change the husband’s commitment to her. The love should compare to that which Jesus has for the church; that made Him surrender His life. This is not conditional love, which evaporates when the wife fails one way or another. This is possible when the husband considers the wife as one with himself. The husband’s love is able to bring the best out of the wife.

Point of Emphasis: Husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself.

Prayer Point: Father, kindle the fire of love in the hearts of those husbands who have lost the love for their wives.
