Moses’ Parents

Exo. 6:14-27

The parents of Moses were Amram and Jochebed, both from the tribe of Levi. They had two other children- Miriam and Aaron, both were older than Moses. Although Jacob on his deathbed cursed the anger of Simeon and Levi, yet God chose the tribe of Levi to be the ancestor of Moses, the man God would use to deliver the Israelites from Egyptian bondage. God often overlooks the failures and weaknesses of ancestors when choosing the men He uses. The temperament that works against one when fully given full reign under carnal nature, can be turned into an asset when it is put under the control of the Holy Spirit. Levites were later known to be wholly committed to obeying God, and were used to execute the judgment of God. It is interesting to note that Moses’ ancestors lived long. No wonder, he was called by God at the age of eighty, and still led the Israelites for forty years.

Point of Emphasis:      Both parents of Moses were Levites, committed to serving and obeying God.

Prayer Point:   I pray that whatever fault or weakness may be in my lineage, let it be turned to my strong point in serving God.

LES PARENTS DE MOISE

EXODE 6 :14-27

Les parents de Moïse étaient Amram et Jokébed, tous deux de la tribu de Lévi. Ils avaient deux autres enfants Miriam et Aaron, tous les deux plus âgés que Moise. Quoique Jacob sur son lit de mort ait maudit le courroux de Siméon et de Lévi, encore est-il que Dieu choisit la tribu de Lévi pour être l’ancêtre de Moïse, l’homme dont  Dieu se servirait pour délivrer les Israélites de la captivité égyptienne. Dieu ferme souvent les yeux sur les échecs et les faiblesses des ancêtres quand il s’agit de choisir les hommes qu’il utilise. Le tempérament qui œuvre contre soi quand on lui donne totalement plein pouvoir sous la nature charnelle peut être converti en actif quand celui-ci est soumis au contrôle du Saint-Esprit.  Les Lévites furent après reconnus pour s’être totalement engagés à obéir à Dieu et furent utilisés pour exécuter le jugement de Dieu. C’est intéressant de noter que les ancêtres de Moïse vécurent pendant longtemps. Ce n’est pas étonnant qu’il soit appelé de Dieu à l’âge de quatre-vingts ans pour encore diriger les Israélites pendant quarante ans.

Point essentiel : Les parents de Moïse étaient tous deux lévites et engagés à servir et à obéir à Dieu.

Axe de prière: Je prie que quelque faute ou faiblesse qui puisse être dans ma famille soit convertie en point fort de servir Dieu.
