opportunity-signDON’T MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY

Sunday 8th May, 2016.

On the very same day Noah and Noah’s sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth, and Noah’s wife and the three wives of his sons with them, entered the ark—  they and every beast after its kind, all cattle after their kind, every creeping thing that creeps on the earth after its kind, and every bird after its kind, every bird of every sort.  And they went into the ark to Noah, two by two, of all flesh in which is the breath of life.  So those that entered, male and female of all flesh, went in as God had commanded him; and the Lord shut him in (Gen.7:13-16).

There is a general saying that, “An opportunity once lost can never be regained” This saying cannot be over-emphasized as in the matter of one’s salvation. 2Cor. 6:2 says, “For He says: “In an acceptable time I have heard you, and in the day of salvation I have helped you. Behold now is the accepted time; behold, now this is the day of salvation.” The scripture quotation from Gen. 7:13-16 is in reference to what happened several years ago. When “… the LORD saw that the wickedness of men was great in the earth, and the very intent of his thoughts of his heart was evil continually. And the LORD was sorry that He made man on the earth, and He was grieved in heart.” (Gen.6:5,6)

This grievance led to God’s decision to destroy all the things on the earth especially human beings, which consequently resulted to the destruction by the flood as recorded in (Gen. 6:7,8;7-8). But before the destruction, He called Noah whom He found to be righteous in that generation (by His grace). He instructed Noah to build an ark for the salvation of his household, an instruction which Noah complied with. He built the ark according to God’s instruction and specifications. This process probably took about one hundred and twenty years before the flood came- giving the sinners of that time enough time to repent and enter the ark for their rescue from the flood destruction. As Noah was building the ark, it appeared that the people were mocking him. But when it was time for God to pronounce His judgment on unrepentant sinners, He asked Noah and his household to enter the ark, he and his household together with some animals, fowls and living things male and female of each kind. After they had entered the ark, God shut the door and the rains started, so that the whole world was flooded, no living thing escaped. They were all destroyed both male and female, rich and poor, educated and illiterate all died for, “… the waters prevailed on the earth one hundred and fifty days” (Gen.7:24). So all human beings and other living things all over the then world save Noah and the whole members of his family eight souls in number and other living things that were in the ark with him were saved and rescued from the destruction.

Today it is no longer Noah’s ark, it is Jesus Christ and then the Son of God who died for our sins and rose the third day; He is the ark of our salvation. God the Father sent Him to the world to be the propitiation for our sins. He died the death that our sins deserved so that we may live forever with God in His Kingdom according to God’s original plan for man even before the creation. God created us to live forever but the sin that Adam and Eve committed and by extension to us brought our separation from God. The death of Jesus Christ on the cross paved the way for us to come to God but only those who believe in His death and His deity as the Son of God and Saviour, repent from their sins and are converted can enjoy this privilege.  When Jesus died on the cross, the veil of the temple tore from the top to the bottom signifying that access to God through Jesus Christ, the way, the truth and the life was now opened to anyone who will believe regardless of race, color, sex, social status etc. (Jn. 14:6). We can boldly say that Jesus is the ark of salvation today. No religion can save no matter how popular or wealthy that religion is. (Rm. 1:16, 17; Acts 4:12)

Your opportunity to declare your allegiance to Christ is now, as the next few hours may be too late because you do not know when you will die, where you will die and the kind of death you will suffer. Just believe before it is too late for you. Those in Noah’s day were foolish and unconcerned, they all perished. God’s judgement on sinners of this dispensation and before is hell that burns with fire and brimstone. Unbelievers will be there forever (Ps.9:17).  To be forewarned is to forearmed. Do it today and it shall be well with you. I say again ‘Don’t miss This Opportunity, Make Your Decision Now.
