Paul: A Leader To Emulate
1 Cor. 4:6-17
Paul in today’s passage warned the Corinthian church against being deluded by some who arrogantly paraded themselves as leaders among the people. He, therefore, urged them to imitate him as he imitated Christ. Paul wasn’t expecting others to imitate everything he did, but they should imitate those aspects of his beliefs and conduct that were modelling Christ’s way of living. He was a symbol of commitment, humility, and a life that is completely given over to God. Just like the early disciples of Jesus were first called Christians at Antioch because of the way they imitated Christ, we Christians today are expected to lighten up the dark world around us with our ways of life. You need to know that the unbelievers around you are not impressed by the way you frequent church services or by the size of the Bible you carry but the impact the gospel you preach has had upon your attitude and conduct.
Point of Emphasis: One of the sure tools you have to bring people to God is your way of life.
Prayer Point: Help me, oh Lord, to live a life that will not cause others to stumble.
