The Vision Of Apostle Paul

Acts 9:1-9, 17,27

In our text, Saul was on his way to Damascus to apprehend the followers of Jesus Christ. But his journey was interrupted by an unexpected visitor. It was the risen, glorified Christ in heaven. He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?” “Who are you, Lord?” Saul asked. “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,” he replied. (Acts 9:3-5). Saul saw the heavenly vision. Although it is not expressly stated in our text, he actually saw the risen Christ (vs 17, 27; 1 Cor. 15 5-8). The brilliant light he saw was the glory of Christ. In addition, he heard the voice from heaven. Of course it was the voice of the Lord. Later Paul recounted what he heard at that time in his self-defence before King Agrippa in Acts 26: 16-18.  Jesus imparted a vision to his chosen servant Paul. He painted an inspiring picture of salvation and liberation of the people who had been bound by the power of darkness. With his eyes of the heart, Paul was able to see this beautiful picture of the future. As the Lord later spoke to him and Barnabas in their commission to the Gentile world, Paul could imagine himself being “a light for the Gentiles” (Acts 13:47). Paul had a vision that he could explain and defend everywhere he went.  What is your own vision?  Can you describe and testify about your vision to people for the salvation of their souls?  The end point of every God given spiritual goal is to bring people to Christ.

Point of Emphasis:     Vision is seeing the beautiful picture of the future.

Prayer Point:                          Lord, help me to fulfil the spiritual vision you have given me by winning souls

to your Kingdom.
