GOFAMINT, GO FORWARD!

“And the LORD said to Moses, “Why do you cry to Me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward. “But lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it. And the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea” (Exd 14:15,16).

First and foremost, I say happy New Year to you all in the name of our Almighty God; the Omnipotent, the Omnipresent and the Omniscient, and also in the name of His Son Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour, the way, the truth, and the life.  We appreciate God for His love and kindness to us in the just concluded year and believe He will continue to do so and much more for us in this New Year.

At the close of the Executive Council Annual Prayer Meeting in December 2013, I asked the Lord if there was any special message for GOFAMINT for the year 2014 (apart from the normal Annual Anchor and Faith Declaration) I had the leading to the Scripture passage of his message in the event of the journey of the Children of Israel to the Promised Land.  We all know that when the Children of Israel had left Egypt and headed on their journey to the Promised Land, Pharaoh and his people were not happy with their freedom so they took their chariots and pursued them.  At the bank of the Red Sea, the Children of Israel while looking forward saw the Red Sea and looking backward saw Pharaoh and the Egyptians pursuing them, then, they became very very afraid, and fearful.  It appeared there was no way of survival for them, then they cried in desperation and dismay, thinking there was no longer hope for them to proceed with their journey because of the Red Sea.  Moses then cried to the Lord and God responded quickly. He told him what to do: “Tell the Children of Israel to go forward.  But lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it.  And the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea”.  That was a strange thing to believe.  Moses followed God’s instruction and the children of Israel passed through the Red Sea without any casualty – Praise the Lord.  What is the relevance of this event to us the 21^st century Christians, someone may want to ask? Without mincing words, the deliverance of the children of Israel from the Egyptian captivity and their subsequent journey to the Promised Land could be likened to our deliverance from the captivity of sin and Satan and our journey to the kingdom of heaven.  Till date, Satan is not happy with our freedom.  He and his army are fighting tooth and nail everyday against our reaching to the destination, but we shall make it in Jesus name.  According to Revelation 12:10a which says: “the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down” That is his business.

The message before us this year is an encouragement as God did with the children of Israel.  Every sincere child of God who is all out for God faces one challenge or the other on the journey individually.  And collectively as a church, we have challenges day in day out.  The good news for us is that He who delivered us is always with us as He was with the children of Israel: “He Himself has said, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers they shall not overflow you.  When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you” (Isa 43:2).  For GOFAMINT as a whole, this message means that God has a big plan for us in this year and in these last days, there are territories we are yet to occupy but there are also posing challenges to all these.  The marching command for us is “to go forward” by faith and by using the word of God and the name of Jesus as our power to quench the fiery dart of the enemy (Eph 6:16).  This year we need to take the word of God and His promises in His word more seriously than ever before.  We should also demonstrate strong faith in the word and the claiming of the promises.  The word of God is our gold mine as I often say.  All we need for this life and the life to come are all already enshrined in it.  Let us make sure we apply the word ‘faith’ in our name to claim the promises of God for us.  The enemy will threaten but he cannot prevail. He is a roaring lion whose teeth had been removed!  The instruction for us is ‘go forward’ in service and sacrifice, in preaching and in our stewardship to the Lord. None of us should be afraid.  Our God has spoken; the symbolic Red Sea on our journey will give way and we will pass without hindrance lift up the word of God and the name of Jesus the enemy cannot resist it.  Remain blessed in Jesus name. « L’Éternel dit à Moïse: Pourquoi ces cris? Parle aux enfants d’Israël, et qu’ils marchent. Toi, lève ta verge, étends ta main sur la mer, et fends-la; et les enfants d’Israël entreront au milieu de la mer à sec » (Ex. 14 :15-16).

D’abord et avant tout,  nous souhaitons bonne année à tous  au nom du Dieu Tout-puissant, l’Omnipotent, l’Omniprésent et l’Omniscient et aussi au nom de son fils Jésus-Christ notre Seigneur et Sauveur, le chemin, la vérité et la vie. Nous apprécions Dieu pour son amour et sa gentillesse envers nous dans l’année qui vient tout juste de s’écouler et nous croyons qu’il continuera d’en faire davantage pour nous pendant cette nouvelle année.

A la fin de la réunion annuelle de prière du Conseil Exécutif en Décembre 2013, j’ai demandé à l’Eternel s’il avait un message spécial pour la MEF pour l’année 2014 (en dehors du Guide normal de l’année et du Mot d’Ordre). L’Esprit me guida dans le passage de l’Ecriture de ce message dans le cadre du voyage des enfants d’Israël vers la Terre Promise. Nous savons tous que quand les enfants d’Israël eurent quitté l’Egypte et se mirent en route pour la Terre Promise. Pharaon et son peuple n’étaient pas contents de leur liberté ; ils prirent donc leurs chars et se mirent à leur poursuite. Au bord de la Mer Rouge, tandis que les enfants d’Israël regardèrent en face d’eux la Mer Rouge et derrière eux virent Pharaon et les Egyptiens les poursuivant, ils furent saisis d’une grande peur et celle-ci les envahit. Il semblait ne pas avoir pour eux aucun chemin de survie, ils crièrent alors en désespoir et d’un air consterné, pensant qu’il n’y avait plus d’espoir pour eux de continuer leur voyage à cause de la Mer Rouge. Moïse cria donc à l’Eternel et Dieu lui répondit sans tarder. Il lui dit que faire : « … Parle aux enfants d’Israël, et qu’ils marchent. Toi, lève ta verge, étends ta main sur la mer, et fends-la; et les enfants d’Israël entreront au milieu de la mer à sec » C’était là une chose étrange à croire. Moïse suivit l’instruction que Dieu lui avait donnée et les enfants d’Israël traversaient la Mer Rouge sans aucune victime – Louez l’Eternel. Quelle est l’importance de cet événement pour nous les chrétiens du 21^e siècle, quelqu’un pourrait-il se demander ? Sans mâcher de mots, la délivrance des enfants d’Israël, de leur captivité en Egypte aux voyages subséquents vers la Terre Promise pourrait être comparée à notre délivrance de la captivité du péché et de Satan et de notre voyage vers le Royaume des cieux. Jusqu’à présent, Satan n’est pas content de notre liberté. Son armée et lui se battent chaque jour de façon acharnée contre le fait que nous atteignions notre destination, mais nous y parviendrons au nom de Jésus. Selon le livre d’Apocalypse 12 :10a qui affirme : « …l’accusateur de nos frères, celui qui les accusait devant notre Dieu jour et nuit » Cela fait son affaire.

Le message en face de nous cette année est un encouragement comme Dieu l’avait fait avec les enfants d’Israël. Tout enfant sincère de Dieu qui s’investit totalement dans les choses de Dieu fait face à un défi ou un autre individuellement dans son voyage. Au jour le jour, nous faisons face à des défis collectivement en tant qu’une église. La bonne nouvelle pour nous est que celui qui nous a délivrés est toujours avec nous comme il l’était avec les enfants d’Israël. Il a lui-même affirmé : « Si tu traverses les eaux, je serai avec toi; Et les fleuves, ils ne te submergeront point; Si tu marches dans le feu, tu ne te brûleras pas, Et la flamme ne t’embrasera pas » (Es. 43:2). Pour la MEF en général, ce message veut dire que Dieu a de grands projets pour nous cette année et dans ces derniers temps. Il y a des territoires qui nous restent encore à occuper alors qu’il y a des défis à surmonter dans ce domaine. La feuille de route pour nous est de ‘marcher’ par la foi en faisant usage de la parole de Dieu et du nom de Jésus comme notre puissance pour éteindre les traits enflammés du malin. (Eph. 6:16). Cette année, nous avons besoin de prendre plus au sérieux qu’auparavant,  la parole de Dieu et le nom de Jésus ainsi que les promesses inscrites dans sa parole. Nous devons aussi démontrer une foi sans faille en la parole et aux revendications des promesses. La parole de Dieu est notre mine d’or comme j’ai l’habitude de le dire. Tout ce dont nous avons besoin de faire dans cette vie et celle à venir y est déjà inséré. Assurons-nous d’appliquer le mot ‘foi’ tel que figurant dans notre nom pour revendiquer les promesses de Dieu pour nous. L’ennemi nous menacera mais ne pourra pas prévaloir. Il est un lion édenté, rugissant. L’instruction pour nous est de ‘marcher (aller de l’avant)’ dans notre service et notre sacrifice, dans la prédication et dans l’administration. Nul d’entre nous ne doit avoir peur. Notre Dieu s’est prononcé; la Mer Rouge symbolique sur notre voyage cèdera et nous passerons sans encombre. Elève la parole de Dieu et le nom de Jésus auxquels l’ennemie ne peut résister. Demeure béni au nom de Jésus. Amen.
